Other Nutrition Advocacy Efforts

CEO Paul Downey serves as President of the California Elderly Nutrition Partnership (CENP), formed to advocate specifically for increased funding at the Federal and State levels for senior nutrition programs. In 2005, under Paul’s leadership, CENP formed a strategic alliance with the California Association of Nutrition Directors for the Elderly (CANDE), of which he is now the president, to increase nutrition funding from the Older Americans Act. He also sits on the Board of the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP). These groups individually and collectively are active advocates for senior nutrition funding.

Senior VP of Operations Kitty Roberts R.D. has been involved in issues of hunger in downtown San Diego for over a decade. She is working closely with local anti-hunger organizations, specifically the San Diego Hunger Coalition, helping to develop strategies to support anti-hunger initiatives coming from the state level in Sacramento. She has been a tireless advocate for increased access to nutrition for low-income seniors and in 2005 received a Golden Caregiver Award from the Golden Care Workforce Institute for her efforts on behalf of elderly, disabled, and homebound residents in our community.
