Programs and Services

Senior Community Centers is the leading provider of services that meet the basic needs of the low-income, at-risk seniors living in San Diego's urban core, and the only organization in San Diego, and one of the few in the country that provides such a broad base of vital services to this vulnerable senior population.

We provide services to nearly 5,000 unduplicated clients a year
All are over the age of 60
Most live well below the poverty level on about $800 per month
A majority have chronic health or mental health issues
All are at risk of losing their independence

Senior Community Centers programs directly provide, or facilitate access to:

nutrition
affordable housing
treatment for existing mental and physical health problems
preventative care and health education
social services including assistance in securing entitlements and referrals to community partners

These programs are designed to foster a sense of community and promote positive life choices that afford impoverished seniors the dignity they deserve. Most importantly, Senior Community Centers provides a safety net for impoverished seniors who have nowhere else to go and no one to turn to for help.
