Programs and Services

Senior Community Centers is the leading provider of services that meet the basic needs of the low-income, at-risk seniors living in San Diego's urban core, and the only organization in San Diego, and one of the few in the country that provides such a broad base of vital services to this vulnerable senior population.

  • We provide services to nearly 5,000 unduplicated clients a year
  • All are over the age of 60
  • Most live well below the poverty level on about $800 per month
  • A majority have chronic health or mental health issues
  • All are at risk of losing their independence

Senior Community Centers programs directly provide, or facilitate access to:

  • nutrition
  • affordable housing
  • treatment for existing mental and physical health problems
  • preventative care and health education
  • social services including assistance in securing entitlements and referrals to community partners

These programs are designed to foster a sense of community and promote positive life choices that afford impoverished seniors the dignity they deserve. Most importantly, Senior Community Centers provides a safety net for impoverished seniors who have nowhere else to go and no one to turn to for help.

"I had no idea you provided all these services. I thought you just served meals."
