Jimmy's Story: His Love for Celebrating Others

  • As each year passes, we may forget to celebrate our birthdays or choose to ignore that they're happening all together.

    This isn’t the case for Jimmy, however, a Serving Seniors client who embraces his birthdays as another year of acquired wisdom, life experiences, and connection with others.

    One of Jimmy's favorite activities at our Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center is our monthly birthday parties, which he tries to never miss. He especially loves the engaging raffles, delicious cupcakes, and karaoke fun.

    “I love coming to the birthday parties,” Jimmy said. “They are fun and connect me to others.”

    Like many seniors, Jimmy was unable to come together for any sort of celebration for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is so happy to be back volunteering in the community, attending enrichment activities, and interacting with his friends and the Serving Seniors’ staff.
