Why should I support your organization? Don’t your clients have families to support them?
It’s easy to look at poor and homeless seniors and think of them as someone else’s responsibility, especially when we are already supporting our own elderly family members. However, the majority of our clients live alone with no family support—no one to help them in their time of need—either because they never married or have been abandoned by their families. Serving Seniors steps in to act in the role of the supportive family member. Without our help—and your support—thousands of vulnerable seniors would find themselves hungry, homeless, and with no hope for tomorrow.
-
But aren’t most of your clients poor because they made bad decisions or have substance abuse issues?
Not at all! In fact, we find that most of our clients worked all their lives and even had savings for retirement, before either they or their partner had a serious health issue such as a heart attack or stroke that drained their life savings.
Bruce’s story is one such example, and typical of the kinds of stories we encounter every day. You can learn more about the seniors we serve and their paths to Serving Seniors by checking out our blog.
