MEDIA ADVISORY: Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center Hosts Chinese Moon Festival Celebration

Saturday, September 3, 2:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

1525 4th Avenue, San Diego – MAP

Music, dance, fellowship and celebration will fill the Serving Seniors Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center for the Moon Festival on  Saturday, September 3.

Doors open at 2 pm. Events get underway with a traditional Lion Dance at 2:30 pm, followed by a series of performances and presentations through the event conclusion at 5 pm.

The Moon Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival, “Zhongqiu Jie (中秋节)” in Chinese, is the second most important festival in China after Chinese New Year. It is also celebrated by many other Asian countries, such as Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

In China, it is similar to Thanksgiving as a time for family and friends to gather for meals, celebration, and entertainment.

Serving Seniors CEO Paul Downey will be the guest of honor. A significant group of older adult clients at Serving Seniors are of Chinese ancestry.
