Georgia Finds Her Safe Space at the Paul Downey Senior Residence

“I feel safe and secure that’s the most important thing for me.”
68-year-old Georgia has lived in the Clairemont area for the past 10 years but after finding out that her landlord was increasing the rent, she had to find a new place to live.
She was anxious because of how expensive housing had become, and she needed to stay somewhere she felt safe.
If she couldn’t find a place she could afford on her own, Georgia would have to move into an apartment or house with strangers. Or maybe even away from San Diego - no longer being close to where her sons live.
With time ticking, she told a friend about her predicament. She had called a handful of senior housing facilities and all of them had waiting lists. Her friend told her about the Paul Downey Senior Residence, which was just a few blocks from her current apartment, and encouraged her to apply. She did. And three weeks later, Georgia was handed the keys.
She couldn’t believe it. It was a weight off her shoulders.
Having secure access to both the building and apartment, along with the convenience of two elevators, has made a huge difference for Georgia’s safety and peace of mind.
“I feel comfortable here more than I was at my other place.”

Now, living in senior housing, Georgia has made many new friends with her neighbors and built a community without leaving the area she knows well.
Georgia loves her new home.
“I’m so thankful. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
