Nonprofit recognized as a Top Workplaces award winner by The San Diego Union-Tribune

SAN DIEGO, CA. – Serving Seniors, the nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income seniors throughout San Diego, was awarded a Top Workplaces 2019 honor in the annual employee-based survey project from The San Diego Union-Tribune.

Founded in 1970, Serving Seniors has been at the forefront of senior issues in San Diego for nearly 50 years. From senior advocacy and mental health programming to housing and nutritional meal services, the organization has created a nationally recognized, innovative model of comprehensive services for seniors in need.

“It’s a great honor to have been named one of the best places to work in San Diego by The San Diego Union-Tribune,” said Paul Downey, Serving Seniors’ president and CEO. “From our welcoming receptionist and dedicated food delivery drivers to our registered dieticians and leadership team, our employees are essential in carrying out our mission of supporting low-income adults in our community.”

Winners of the recognition are based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, a leading provider of technology-based employee engagement tools. The anonymous survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.

“The Top Workplaces award is about much more than recognition and celebration,” said Eric Rubino, CEO of Energage. “Our research also shows that these organizations achieve higher referral rates, lower employee turnover, and double the employee engagement levels. It just goes to show that being intentional about culture delivers bottom-line results.”
