Whether you're 17 or enjoying your golden years, prom is a milestone meant to be remembered. At Serving Seniors, Senior Prom gives older adults the chance to relive cherished memories, or create brand-new ones alongside their community of friends, staff, and volunteers.
On June 24th, the Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center transformed into an underwater wonderland for this year’s “Under the Sea” Senior Prom. Thanks to the creativity of the San Diego State University Alumni Association, the dining room was filled with hand-crafted table decorations, ocean-inspired wall décor, and a hand painted underwater photo backdrop. Each decoration was created with detail and thoughtfulness to make the experience memorable for seniors.
Throughout the afternoon, seniors enjoyed themed treats and hit the dance floor with old and new friends, while staff and volunteers also joined along to show off their favorite moves. To help commemorate the special day, seniors posed for individual and group Polaroid photos and took home their snapshots
The celebration concluded with one of the event’s most anticipated traditions: crowning the Royal Court. Serving Seniors President & CEO Melinda Forstey proudly recognized individuals nominated by their peers for their kindness, spirit, and contributions to the community.
